As a one off workshop from 09.45 to 12.00 in the morning and 13.00 to 15.00 in the afternoon, as follows:
9.45 to 10.00: Introduction between the artists, the children and their teachers. The workshop facilitator will explain the themes and structure of the workshop.
10.00 to 10.30: Group 1: Demonstration of the percussion instruments. Around a map of the world, they will discover the origin and history of the instruments. Using different techniques they learn how to play some of them.
Group 2: Introduction to the piano and how to express different moods and genres with the instrument. Children are asked to play.
10.30 to 11.00: Group1 moves to Group 2 and vice-versa.
11.00 to 11.10: BREAK
11.10 to 12.00: Introduction to the song, lyrics and melody are played, sung and explained. Once the children are familiar with the song, they choose their form of expression, between playing percussion or piano, singing, harmonising, body percussion or rapping.
12.00 to 13.00: LUNCH BREAK
13.00 to 13.30: All the children, divided into different groups start writing their ideas for the 2nd and 3rd verse.
13.00 to 13.45: Selection of the lyrics with the children and the Teachers.
13.45 to 14.30: Rehearsal of the song in two groups.
Group 1 rehearses harmonies and singing with singer/songwriter pianist facilitator.
Group 2 rehearses percussion parts with percussionist facilitator.
14.30 to 14.40: BREAK [During which the camera is prepared for the filming.]
14.40 to 15.00: (approximately): Final rehearsal followed by the live performance and filming of the song.
As an optional extra we also provide biodegradable LULLABY FOR THE WORLD balloons with a tag where children write their inspirational wishes for a better world and after the workshop they head to the playground to release the balloons into the sky.
